The E-Literacy Programme runs regular 2-hour sessions for free that introduce the Joomla system and you are welcome to book places on any of these, to attend more than once and to invite others that need to build a professional standard website. It covers hosting, creating content and navigation around the content, media tools, templates and extensions, marketing and SEO and any questions you have about building and running a website. If you are certain that you want a website and know that you want to join the e-literacy programme please attend an introduction session anyway as it is very helpful to have a proper grounding in using the Joomla system.

cPanelAt these 2-hour intro sessions you get to use our Joomla 3 ‘sandpit’ website aurateal.com to create content and menu items to navigate to the content. You also get to insert images, create links, format content, categorise articles, and understand why all of these operations are important for the success of your enterprise. We also introduce your to cPanel hosting, the Joomla Extensions Directory and the Joomla Free Templates Directory Joomla 24.

Subscribers to the Programme have the annual hosting included in their subscription and the full setup of their hosting and the Joomla system is included. Training on using the cPanel and Joomla Hosting is intensive at the beginning and ongoing throughout the year. This includes the cPanel File Manager, phpMyAdmin database interface, creating mail accounts This email address is being protected from spambots. A subscription to the Programme costs £168 for a year, £102 for three months or £36 for a month, and a concessionary rate for students and people not in work is available.

For students of IT we strongly recommend attending the monthly meetings of the advanced/developer Joomla Users GroupThey meet every month to provide support to each other in University College London's Engineering Building and is for professional and semi-professional website developers.

Free Government Office SpaceWe cover all that is necessary for building a website in these 2-hour sessions but it is only a basic platform for the development of a fully operational website. After attending the introduction session you are welcome to join 80+ subscribers to the E-Literacy Programme to learn how to build and develop a professional website. Alternatively there are numerous textbooks, websites and videos showing how to use the Joomla content management system that will enable you to build websites on your own. Attending the E-Literacy Programme introduction sessions and workshops is the quickest way to build a professional standard website i.e. www.nomanono.com. Also important is the exchange of information about services that are helpful to you in your enterprise such as free government office space.
